Research concept

With the development of life sciences and the appearance of high-throughput methods, we have access to previously unimaginable large datasets. The analysis of these data by separated workgroups with convetional methods is not feasable anymore. The data-intensive research is in the focus of our groupwith particular emphasis on collaborative reproducible data analysis. We are developing a platform called Kooplex to facilitate the collaboration of groups with distinct scientific background. This platform allows to workon a central server while each workgroup can remotely track the current course of the analysis. Storing of raw data, evaluation programs (Python, R) and final results on the same place supports reproducibile data analysis while the built-in GitLab version control module tracks changes during evaluation process. We apply diverse machine learning solutions to extract relevant information from large datsets. We also have extensive experience in using deep learning methods for visual image recognition (eg, detection of cancerous lesions in mammograms).

With the advent of the new generation DNA sequencing methods, an incredible volume of sequence information became available, which requires infrastructure and expertise. Our group has experience in evaluating cancer related DNA/RNA sequence datasets.
